Progress
Celebrating National Black History Month. This month our nation honors the historical achievements and contributions of Black Americans. The idea of celebrating Black heritage was initially conceived by distinguished Black historian, Dr. Carter G. Woodson, in 1926 and was eventually adopted into law in 1986. Studying this remarkable and painful past is a stark reminder of the legacy of slavery that began in North America 500 years ago and shines a spotlight on the important work of activists that continue to fight for justice today.
Black excellence. Speaking of racial justice, the Black Lives Matter movement and Stacey Abrams were nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize! Although, it’s worth mentioning, that Jared Kushner was also nominated.
Breaking barriers. Rosalind Brewer (who prefers to be addressed as ‘Roz’) was named the CEO of Walgreens. She is the only Black female chief executive in the Fortune 500.
Wellness
Physical health starts in the core. Core training exercises are about more than showing off that midriff. It’s about protecting our entire body from painful, and potentially lifelong, injuries.
