Celebrating Timothy Jackson: A Journey of Transformation and Hope

In the heart of Oceanside, California, one man’s incredible journey from despair to success is inspiring a new generation. Timothy Jackson, founder and CEO of Quality Touch Cleaning, is not just cleaning businesses; he’s cleaning up his life and giving back to the community in remarkable ways. Timothy’s story is one of resilience. In his teenage years, he found himself in a world filled with violence and gangs, eventually leading to a lengthy prison sentence. Instead of letting his past define him, Timothy chose the path of change while incarcerated. He learned how to clean and disinfect hospitals, skills that would ultimately empower him to start his own business upon his release in 2017. “I saw people come back from the program empowered — they were changed,” Timothy reflects, recalling the moment he was introduced to Defy Ventures while still in prison. This transformative entrepreneurial training program became the catalyst for his new life. He placed second in a business pitch competition organized by Defy, acquiring $7,000 to kickstart Quality Touch Cleaning, a company that epitomizes excellence and dedication to hygiene during a global pandemic. Since launching his business, Timothy has not only achieved personal success but has also created jobs for others. “I’ve been able to bring people who needed work a source of income,” he said, proudly reflecting on the impact his company has on the community. Timothy now manages a team of five employees and multiple contractors, demonstrating a commitment to uplifting those around him. His journey has also led to unexpected friendships. Lt. Taurino Valdovinos, the officer who arrested Timothy, now stands alongside him, reaching out to troubled youth in Oceanside. Together, they share their stories, emphasizing the importance of second chances and showing young people that they can choose a different path. “Every time we speak, it’s surreal,” Timothy admits. “I never thought I would be asked by law enforcement to do such a thing.” In 2024, Timothy launched the Epic Hope Foundation, dedicated to providing support, resources, and opportunities for those in need. “Our mission is to make a positive impact in the community,” he states, embodying the spirit of altruism that has defined his transformation. Timothy’s achievements underscore the idea that success is not merely about personal gain, but also about lifting others as you rise. From his humble beginnings in a gang to leading a thriving business and a nonprofit organization, he showcases the incredible potential of resilience and hard work. As members of this community, let’s celebrate Timothy Jackson not just as an entrepreneur, but as a beacon of hope for everyone striving to make a positive change. He is proof that no matter the odds, it’s possible to rise from adversity and light the way for others, reminding us all that transformation is within reach.

Why Did You Start My Black City?

A MESSAGE FROM BRANDON BORNES (FOUNDER OF MY BLACK CITY)

We often worry that we don’t have enough resources in our community to go around. When we see someone in our community doing what we do but better, we get a little nervous or intimidated. Instead of using competition to spur on our creativity, teamwork, work ethic and innovation, we become soo overwhelmed with our own fears and insecurities that we gossip, sabotage, or hurt one another. This has happened to many exceptional people in our community. We need to do better and lead by example. Our love for each other needs to be greater than our fear of failure.

If we had to simplify into one word what My Black City is about, it would be LOVE! Because Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

When people come in contact with our brand, that’s what I want them to experience. It‘s not an easy aspiration to live up to, but we believe it‘s worth fighting for and it‘s what we need as a community.
