Veteran, Artist, Advocate: Meet Reginald Green
Reginald Green is no stranger to helping others. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Reginald spent 15 years serving in the U.S. Navy. His experiences and commitment didn’t end when he took off his uniform—instead, they transformed as his passion for art developed. Now, a recognized artist and a dedicated advocate for veterans, Reginald channels his energy into promoting mental, physical, and emotional healing through art. “Art has helped me in so many ways,” Reginald says, reflecting on how his journey as a Navy veteran inspired his involvement in the community. Since 2017, Reginald has been volunteering for organizations like the Veteran’s Art Project, where he guides other veterans in using art as therapy. His focus? Creating mental wealth through access to artistic expression for veterans facing trauma and disabilities. While discussing his accomplishments, it’s clear that Reginald’s work has reached far and wide. His pieces have been featured nationally and in both galleries and museums. Honored as Veteran Artist of the Year and having his work mentioned in newspapers and art books, it’s undeniable that Reginald’s creative talents are shining through. But, his greatest pride lies in the impact his art has on the veterans he helps. Reginald offers this advice to young artists and community advocates: “Stay focused, stay inspired, [and] stay motivated.” His passion comes from a place of wanting to spark joy and peace in others, and he encourages anyone interested to get involved in the arts or attend board meetings to advocate for more resources and programs. With a dream of one day being a world-renowned artist, Reginald Green hopes to leave a lasting legacy that reminds others to embrace their passions and remember, “Do what you love so that it never feels like working.”
