Celebrating Pastor Larry Sauls: A Beacon of Hope in Our Community

Every community thrives on the strength of its leaders, and for the residents of Vista, one such leader shines brightly—Pastor Larry Sauls. Nominated by a member of our community for his unwavering dedication and passion, Pastor Sauls has made a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals through service, mentorship, and faith.

Born into a family steeped in Christian values, Larry Eugene Sauls Jr. was raised with spirituality at the forefront. His mother led praise and worship, while his father’s ministerial role shaped Larry’s formative years. Despite his strong beginnings, adolescence took him on a turbulent path, leading to his involvement in street gangs and subsequently, a prison sentence. However, it was during this challenging period that Larry experienced a life-altering encounter with God, redirecting him toward his true calling. At the age of 24, he surrendered his life to the ministry, marking the beginning of a transformative journey.

After accepting his first position as the praise and worship leader at Mending Broken Vessel Ministries, Larry’s musical talents flourished alongside his pastoral duties. His gifts only grew as he was ordained and began to serve communities in meaningful ways. In 2014, he founded the Atmosphere of Faith Christian Church in Vista, where he aims to inspire belief in the impossible.

Pastor Sauls, alongside his wife Elizabeth, who is a dedicated veterinary technician, raises six children and five grandchildren. Currently enrolled at Angelo Bible College, his pursuit of theological study reflects his commitment to deepening his understanding of faith, which he readily shares with his congregation.

What truly sets Pastor Sauls apart is his relentless commitment to the wider community. As the General Overseer of the Multicultural Christian Network, he advocates for underserved churches, providing resources and encouragement to those striving to fulfill their missions. His role as Program Supervisor for the Resilience Community Mentorship Program emphasizes his dedication to mentoring at-risk youth, specifically those involved in gang activity. Larry understands the struggles of these young individuals and works diligently to guide them toward a better path.

Moreover, as a Faith-based chaplain with Project In-Reach, he extends his compassion to inmates battling mental health and substance abuse issues, offering them hope through prayer and support. The transition from incarceration to community life can be daunting, but Pastor Sauls ensures that assistance continues beyond prison walls.

At the Atmosphere of Faith Christian Church, the focus is not solely on worship but on instilling values in the next generation. Their vibrant children’s ministry and high school/young adults fellowship are crucial components of their mission to nurture faith in youth.

Pastor Larry Sauls Jr. embodies the spirit of community service and faith. With every step he takes, he uplifts those around him, instilling a sense of hope, healing, and purpose. His journey serves as a powerful reminder that no matter how far one strays, redemption and growth are always within reach. Let us celebrate Pastor Sauls, a true leader, mentor, and agent of change!
