About Makisha Boothe & Sistahbiz

Honored by the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce with the Clara Brown Award, Recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Region and State of Colorado, Makisha Boothe, “Queen of the Quickstart”, teaches entrepreneurs how to build systems and rapid improvement structures that grow their businesses and foster smooth daily operations.

Before founding Sistahpreneurs, the business haven for Black female entrepreneurs, Makisha co-founded and led the Denver Public Schools Innovation Lab, Imaginarium. The lab was the first district-run lab of its kind in the nation, and was designed to help principals re-design their school models and test new instructional strategies in the classroom.

Makisha has worked in politics and education reform on the national, state and local levels, to pass landmark innovation and choice legislation. She also served as the Senior Adviser to the Colorado State Senate President. She owned and operated Ya Ya Spa, LLC in Denver, Colorado, while working in the political world. Ya Ya Spa was featured in Black Enterprise and was known for its nostalgic atmosphere and specialty pedicures.

As a rapid improvement coach, Makisha helps small businesses re-think their brands, systems, resource allocation, and human capital strategies.

Danielle | Marketing Director

Danielle, serial entrepreneur and mom of four, is the Digital Marketing Director and Online Community Manager for Sistahpreneurs. She began her entrepreneurial journey by running her own in home daycare for 8 years as a way to be home with her children and still make an income. She later co-founded a local media company for pop culture where she had daily podcasts featuring everything from comic books to movies. Her latest endeavor is her role as owner and photographer for Lotus & Lily Photography, a lifestyle and portrait photography company based in Denver. As Digital Marketing Manager for Team SPR, Danielle manages the online village and sales funnel.

Through her work at Sistahpreneurs, she has combined her love for seeing small businesses succeed and passion for helping black female entrepreneurs like her fulfill their dreams. Coming from a matriarchal Caribbean family, she follows in the footsteps of her grandmother, mother, and many others, paving a way for coming generations by creating and supporting local businesses.

 

Candice | Educational Consultant

Candice was born in Jackson, TN and raised in Denver, CO. With nearly 15 years experience in education, she has had various roles in career such as founding school director, as well as providing district wide trainings for Denver Public Schools. With a deep commitment to providing culturally relevant experiences to school age students, she is currently developing a K12 curriculum focused on entrepreneurship. As Founder and CEO of Platinum Life LLC she is excited to partner with other women to unleash their inner life boss.
