Celebrating Dr. Yvonne Scarlette: A Champion of Women’s Health

In the heart of Carlsbad, one woman is making a difference that resonates deeply within our community. Dr. Yvonne Scarlette, a passionate advocate for women’s health, has devoted over 12 years to helping patients navigate the complexities of health and wellness through her expertise in Integrative Medicine. Nominated by an anonymous community member, Dr. Scarlette embodies the spirit of dedication, compassion, and innovation.

As the Clinic Director of Red Lotus Wellness Center, Dr. Scarlette specializes in acupuncture, functional medicine, and lifestyle coaching. Her journey brought her into the realm of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) when she realized that many women are not receiving the comprehensive care they need through conventional medicine alone. This realization ignited a passion to delve deeper into integrative approaches, leading her to combine traditional practices with modern medical insights.

At Red Lotus, Dr. Scarlette focuses on treating the root causes of health issues, rather than just alleviating symptoms. Her work primarily revolves around fertility, thyroid health, and autoimmune disorders, areas where she has pioneered a holistic approach that has garnered attention and respect within the medical community. Thousands of women have found hope and healing under her guidance, illustrating her profound impact on the lives she touches.

What sets Dr. Scarlette apart isn’t just her impressive qualifications as a licensed primary care provider and a certified acupuncturist; it’s her unwavering commitment to her patients. She understands the struggles many women face, and her empathetic approach ensures that they feel heard, seen, and cared for. Her extensive training has equipped her with the tools to design individualized treatment plans that honor each patient’s unique journey toward wellness.

“At Red Lotus, we believe that every woman deserves a personalized approach to their health, one that empowers them along their journey,” says Dr. Scarlette.

When she’s not passionately practicing medicine, Dr. Scarlette enjoys rejuvenating her spirit by walking along the beach or dancing, reflecting the essence of balance she promotes in her work. This holistic view of health—as a matter of both mind and body—resonates well with younger generations, encouraging high schoolers and middle schoolers alike to think critically about their wellness.

Dr. Scarlette’s influence isn’t confined to her clinic; she serves as a role model for young women in our community. Her journey exemplifies the importance of pursuing one’s passion, advocating for underserved populations, and embracing one’s authentic self. As students navigate the complexities of adolescence, her story is a reminder that they too can create positive change in their lives and the lives of others.

In a world where health is often viewed through a purely clinical lens, Dr. Yvonne Scarlette serves as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path toward a more compassionate and holistic approach to wellness. Let’s celebrate her incredible contribution to our community and the powerful movement towards integrative health and healing.

Why Did You Start My Black City?

A MESSAGE FROM BRANDON BORNES (FOUNDER OF MY BLACK CITY)

We often worry that we don’t have enough resources in our community to go around. When we see someone in our community doing what we do but better, we get a little nervous or intimidated. Instead of using competition to spur on our creativity, teamwork, work ethic and innovation, we become soo overwhelmed with our own fears and insecurities that we gossip, sabotage, or hurt one another. This has happened to many exceptional people in our community. We need to do better and lead by example. Our love for each other needs to be greater than our fear of failure.

If we had to simplify into one word what My Black City is about, it would be LOVE! Because Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

When people come in contact with our brand, that’s what I want them to experience. It‘s not an easy aspiration to live up to, but we believe it‘s worth fighting for and it‘s what we need as a community.
