Spotlight on Yvonne Ator: A Beacon of Connection and Service

In the heart of our community shines a light with a name you might recognize: Yvonne Ator. A passionate leader, devoted parent, and thriving entrepreneur, Yvonne embodies the spirit of connection and commitment to service that inspires both young and old.

Yvonne is the proud owner of “Thriving Idealist” and “Thriving Physicians,” businesses dedicated to personal, organizational, and leadership development. Her journey is not just about building a career; it’s about creating spaces where people can grow, connect, and thrive. Her infectious enthusiasm for helping others comes from a place deep within—a belief that everyone has the potential to achieve greatness when they have the right support.

As a mother, Yvonne embodies the values she cherishes most: connection and service. She recognizes that to foster growth and success not just for her family but also for the larger community, we need to cultivate positive peer connections. “The strength of any community lies in the depth of its connections,” she emphasizes, urging younger generations to build bridges rather than walls.

Yvonne’s creative outlets are as rich as her professional endeavors. She expresses herself through writing, music, and poetry. These creative expressions are not only a channel for her own emotions but serve as tools for motivation and encouragement within her community. “Art has a unique way of connecting us,” she reflects, highlighting the significance of creativity in personal and communal growth.

The traits that set Yvonne apart include her remarkable ability to connect with others, her empathy, and her relentless drive to see people succeed. This empathy is the cornerstone of her coaching philosophy. She sees people not just for who they are but for who they can become. Through her businesses, Yvonne provides a nurturing environment where individuals from all walks of life can find the encouragement they need to thrive.

Reflecting on her professional achievements, Yvonne is especially proud of starting and sustaining her coaching practice, facilitating impactful service for those around her. However, she recognizes that growth is a continual process. “Scaling up and building my team are goals I aspire to,” she shares, revealing her desire to amplify her impact.

In discussing the local Black community, Yvonne celebrates its diversity and strength but also acknowledges the need for deeper connections. “We have incredible Black excellence here, but we can do more to connect and uplift each other,” she notes. Through her active involvement with the Mindful Healthcare Collective and her coaching initiatives, she strives to give back through leadership development and personal empowerment.

Why Did You Start My Black City?

A MESSAGE FROM BRANDON BORNES (FOUNDER OF MY BLACK CITY)

We often worry that we don’t have enough resources in our community to go around. When we see someone in our community doing what we do but better, we get a little nervous or intimidated. Instead of using competition to spur on our creativity, teamwork, work ethic and innovation, we become soo overwhelmed with our own fears and insecurities that we gossip, sabotage, or hurt one another. This has happened to many exceptional people in our community. We need to do better and lead by example. Our love for each other needs to be greater than our fear of failure.

If we had to simplify into one word what My Black City is about, it would be LOVE! Because Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

When people come in contact with our brand, that’s what I want them to experience. It‘s not an easy aspiration to live up to, but we believe it‘s worth fighting for and it‘s what we need as a community.
