Celebrating Shamelle Reveter: A Visionary Leader Transforming the Entertainment Industry

Shamelle Reveter is more than just an expert in tax strategy, wealth management, and accounting. Beyond her impressive professional credentials, Shamelle is a dedicated advocate and mentor in the entertainment industry. With a career sparked by her early experiences as a background actress, she saw firsthand the harsh realities of the audition process and vowed to make a change. Today, Shamelle is the proud owner of three companies that aim to provide fair opportunities, training, and support for creatives and small business owners.

Early Inspirations and Career Beginnings

Starting out in the tough environment of film auditions, Shamelle was moved by the plight of fellow actors struggling for a chance to shine. This experience laid the foundation for her future endeavors. “It weighed on my heart…I made up my mind that one day, I would create a company that gave everyone a fair shot,” says Shamelle. True to her word, her businesses now champion equality and nurturing talent in the industry.

“I want to empower and equip individuals with the knowledge and opportunities they need to succeed.”

A Multifaceted Expertise

With over 20 years of experience, Shamelle’s roles have spanned across various sectors including education, nonprofit, and healthcare, to name a few. Her breadth of knowledge in financial management and operational leadership has enabled her to make substantial contributions not just to the bottom line, but to people’s lives.

Making a Difference

What Shamelle cherishes the most is the joy and transformation she brings to her clients and staff. The success stories from her cast members and the financial empowerment of her clients are her greatest rewards. “This is what it’s all about; nothing else,” she beams.

Words of Wisdom

On the topic of what it takes to excel, Shamelle lists humility, good listening skills, and a positive spiritual outlook as the top three essentials. She encourages newcomers, “Don’t be afraid to show up and confidently state who you are and what you are working to do. Stay humble.”

In her lifelong journey of learning and personal growth, Shamelle has also faced and overcome significant challenges, including learning to trust her instincts amid industry noise and keeping her integrity in the face of adversity.

An Inspirational Legacy

Reflecting on the legacy she hopes to leave, Shamelle desires to be remembered as “the millionaire who did not compromise and always told the truth.” Inspired by her mother, she aims to replicate the resilience and loving spirit she witnessed growing up, instilling these values in everything she does, with the hope of touching more lives along her path.

Shamelle’s parting advice to the younger generation is profound yet simple, “Be still at least once a day. Find your inner passion and pursue it fearlessly, and let everything you do be guided with love.”

Why Did You Start My Black City?

A MESSAGE FROM BRANDON BORNES (FOUNDER OF MY BLACK CITY)

We often worry that we don’t have enough resources in our community to go around. When we see someone in our community doing what we do but better, we get a little nervous or intimidated. Instead of using competition to spur on our creativity, teamwork, work ethic and innovation, we become soo overwhelmed with our own fears and insecurities that we gossip, sabotage, or hurt one another. This has happened to many exceptional people in our community. We need to do better and lead by example. Our love for each other needs to be greater than our fear of failure.

If we had to simplify into one word what My Black City is about, it would be LOVE! Because Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

When people come in contact with our brand, that’s what I want them to experience. It‘s not an easy aspiration to live up to, but we believe it‘s worth fighting for and it‘s what we need as a community.
