Celebrating Robbie Hass: A Champion for the Community

In every community, there are extraordinary individuals who dedicate their lives to creating positive change, and Robbie Hass is certainly one of them. Nominated by an anonymous community member, Robbie’s inspiring story and relentless commitment to servant leadership make her a role model for middle and high school students across Oceanside, CA.For 22 years, Robbie has called Oceanside home, fostering a deep connection with the community around her. As the newly appointed President of the North County African American Women’s Association (NCAAWA), she passionately supports and uplifts women from all walks of life. Standing on the shoulders of nearly 30 years of activism, Robbie aims to continue the organization’s mission of promoting equality and advocating for women’s health and rights.

Robbie believes that “the joy in life is to be used for a purpose”, a philosophy instilled in her by her father, a minister. This belief drives her commitment to servant leadership, where she prioritizes the needs of others and pours her heart into community service. As the owner of a boutique real estate brokerage and an influential board member for seven organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, Robbie exemplifies what it means to dedicate oneself to service.

One of Robbie’s notable contributions has been her role as a charter member of the Oceanside Promise Foundation, which works tirelessly to ensure that every student graduates from high school prepared for college and career success. She believes in education’s power to transform lives and is committed to providing scholarships to young women through her work with NCAAWA.

Robbie’s impact hasn’t gone unnoticed; she has received multiple accolades, including the “California Women Making Herstory Award” and the Woman of the Year title for the 74th Assembly District. These recognitions reflect not only her hard work but also the profound respect she garners within the community.

Beyond her professional achievements, Robbie is deeply rooted in family values. She shares her life with her husband, Keith, and treasures the time spent with their daughter, Angela, and three grandchildren. It’s her family that inspires her daily to give back to the community, embodying the principles of kindness and compassion.

As she looks toward the future, Robbie is excited about the opportunities for collaboration and growth within the NCAAWA. There’s a palpable enthusiasm in her voice when she talks about building an inclusive environment where every woman feels heard and valued. Her vision is clear: a community that empowers women to thrive both personally and professionally.

In a world where young people often seek guidance and inspiration, Robbie Hass serves as a beacon of hope and compassion. Her journey illustrates the importance of community involvement, servant leadership, and the belief that together, we can create a lasting impact. Why Did You Start My Black City?

A MESSAGE FROM BRANDON BORNES (FOUNDER OF MY BLACK CITY)

We often worry that we don’t have enough resources in our community to go around. When we see someone in our community doing what we do but better, we get a little nervous or intimidated. Instead of using competition to spur on our creativity, teamwork, work ethic and innovation, we become soo overwhelmed with our own fears and insecurities that we gossip, sabotage, or hurt one another. This has happened to many exceptional people in our community. We need to do better and lead by example. Our love for each other needs to be greater than our fear of failure.

If we had to simplify into one word what My Black City is about, it would be LOVE! Because Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

When people come in contact with our brand, that’s what I want them to experience. It‘s not an easy aspiration to live up to, but we believe it‘s worth fighting for and it‘s what we need as a community.
