Our mission is accomplished by providing a variety of books and merchandise that promote self- love and pride through our fun and colorful books. Families are able to receive FREE fun activities that promote literacy when you subscribe to our website.

What role do you play in your Industry?

  • I'm excited to enter a new industry. I have stepped out into the unknown and entered the world of independent authors. The books that I am writing are to inspire self-love in young African-American children. I feel that all children need to have a positive representation of themselves. My goal is to also provide resources for beginning readers. Our books include additional material that parents, and educators can use to extend the themes found in each book. My books are based on real-life situations. The characters in my books are named after children in my family. Our company is truly a family affair.

  • Started 2020

What Certifications, Degrees, Titles and Experience do you have in your industry?

  • Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education K - 6 Master's Degree in Early Elementary PreK - 3 Teaching for 16 years in title one schools Mother of two black boys

Why & How did you get involved in your industry?

  • Writing children’s books have always been a dream of mine. As an educator for fifteen years, writing children’s books is the next step in my personal evolution. Working with children for years and having two children of my own provided the insight that I used to help write my books.

What do you love most about your role in your industry?

  • I enjoy creating and writing stories. I love seeing my thoughts become reality. I am proud when a customer leaves a review or sends me a picture of their child reading my book. I am proud that I am bringing joy to young readers.

What is the best advice you have received about how to impact your industry?

  • I have learned to focus on one topic at a time. I wanted to talk about everything that effects black children in one book. It is easier to write a story that focuses on one main topic at a time.

What do you think are the top 3 things that help people excel in your industry?

  • Marketing Great illustrations Chooses topics that interest children

What encouragement would you give to those who are interested in being in your industry?

  • It is important to jump out and just get started. Don't allow your fears to hold you back.

What do you think is the most important qualities for people to have in your industry?

  • The most important quality to have as a children's book author is to be creative. You can write at the common themes but add a twist to the topic that relates to today's children.

What obstacles have you overcome, or are you overcoming to excel in your industry?

  • More authors are writing books directed to African-American children. As an independent author, you have to find a way to make your book stand out above everyone else. Marketing is key to have a successful book.

What accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?

  • My proudest accomplishments are my children. They are my pride and joy. They inspired me to become the author that I am today.

Who is is one person that has influenced your direction in life? Explain How.

  • There isn't one person that has influenced my life. I have a combine of people that have played an important role in my life. My husband and children are the most supportive people in my life. My sister and father proved assistance and support within my business. They are my editors and bankers.

What advice would you give to the younger generation?

  • It is important for young children to learn early that they shouldn't change themselves for anyone else. Children need to learn to love themselves the way they are.

What do you want your legacy to be?

  • I would love to be remembered by the quality of work that I put out. I want readers to say that one of my books is their favorite book.

What else would you like people to know about you?

  • I am a woman stepping out on faith. Dreaming big and aiming for the stars.
