Celebrating Kevin Hall: A Leader in Service and Faith

In the vibrant community of Oceanside, one individual stands out for his immense dedication to service and faith: Kevin Hall. Kevin is actively involved in his local production ministry. But more than just a role, it’s Kevin’s passion for making a positive impact that truly defines him.

Kevin’s journey of faith began in a Catholic upbringing. As he grew older, he found himself grappling with traditional views of religious authority. Wanting a direct connection with God, his quest led him through various denominations, ultimately shaping his spiritual identity and fueling his desire to serve.

“I feel more connected to my church and to God when I am in service to God and His people,” Kevin shares. Drawing inspiration from the story of the little drummer boy, he emphasizes that everyone has something valuable to give—even those who may not see themselves as particularly ‘talented.’ Through his work, he ensures that everyone can hear the message clearly. After all, if you can’t hear the message, you can’t understand it.

Kevin’s influence extends far beyond church walls. His dedication to mentoring students, especially young boys who may be heading down the wrong path, has changed lives for the better. His wisdom and guidance steer them away from harmful behaviors and toward a brighter future. “You have a lot to offer students, don’t wait to get started,” he advises his younger self.

Faith plays a pivotal role in Kevin’s life, particularly through the Bible’s wisdom. One verse that resonates deeply with him is Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” For Kevin, this passage serves as both motivation and guidance in his interactions with youth.

Looking to the future, Kevin wishes to leave a lasting legacy centered around education and compassion. “Education and compassion is the path to true success,” he asserts, hoping that his sons and mentees carry this message forward in their lives.

In celebrating Kevin Hall, we acknowledge a beacon of hope and leadership in our community. His faith-driven service not only inspires others but also creates a strong foundation for the youth he mentors. With individuals like Kevin, we can be assured that the future is in capable hands.

Why Did You Start My Black City?

A MESSAGE FROM BRANDON BORNES (FOUNDER OF MY BLACK CITY)

We often worry that we don’t have enough resources in our community to go around. When we see someone in our community doing what we do but better, we get a little nervous or intimidated. Instead of using competition to spur on our creativity, teamwork, work ethic and innovation, we become soo overwhelmed with our own fears and insecurities that we gossip, sabotage, or hurt one another. This has happened to many exceptional people in our community. We need to do better and lead by example. Our love for each other needs to be greater than our fear of failure.

If we had to simplify into one word what My Black City is about, it would be LOVE! Because Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

When people come in contact with our brand, that’s what I want them to experience. It‘s not an easy aspiration to live up to, but we believe it‘s worth fighting for and it‘s what we need as a community.
