Celebrating Jennifer DuBois: A Local Inspiration in Organization and Self-Care

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, creating a peaceful living space can feel like an impossible task for many, especially for overwhelmed women juggling work, family, and self-care. Enter Jennifer DuBois, a talented Professional Organizer and Interior Stylist dedicated to transforming homes into serene sanctuaries. Recently, Jennifer was nominated by an anonymous community member to be celebrated for her ongoing contributions to both individuals and the broader San Diego community.

Originally from St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Jennifer moved to San Diego in the early ’90s. After spending more than two decades in healthcare, she launched her business, Organized by Jen D, driven by a mission to help others navigate the often chaotic journey of maintaining organized environments. “I knew I had to help women practice a form of self-care that did not go away when the scented candle burnt out or when the last bit of bubble bath water went down the drain,” Jennifer shares. This profound insight laid the foundation for her business, which now serves countless clients both in-person and virtually.

Since opening Organized by Jen D, Jennifer has positively impacted the lives of over 28 women, turning their disorganized spaces into beautifully styled homes that reflect personal taste and provide a profound sense of peace. “Your home should be a place you love to be in — not one that stresses you out when you open a closet or cupboard,” she advises. Jennifer believes that the environment we create around ourselves plays a pivotal role in influencing our mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

One of Jennifer’s greatest strengths lies in her personalized approach. “The way we style and the organizing systems we use should be personal. No two individuals or families will need or want the exact same thing,” she emphasizes. This individualized focus resonates deeply with her clients, many of whom have expressed how working with her has been transformative. Jennifer aims to empower others to declutter their lives, prioritize what truly matters, and reassess their relationship with their living spaces.

In addition to her organizing services, Jennifer is enthusiastic about supporting her clients through lifestyle changes and building sustainable self-care practices. “I believe every experience was necessary,” she reflects on her journey, echoing her resilience in overcoming challenges, including those posed by the pandemic. In fact, the pandemic has propelled interest in organized environments and led Jennifer to introduce virtual organizing services to meet the increased demand.

As Jennifer continues to grow her business, her passion shines through. She reflects, “I get inspired by the transformations, not only of the spaces that I organized but by the impact my work is having on my clients’ lives.” Indeed, in just over a year since founding Organized by Jen D, she has created a supportive network and fostered a culture of self-care through organization.

Let’s celebrate Jennifer DuBois, a beacon of positivity in our community. By redefining the concept of home organization, she not only creates beautiful spaces but also inspires us to view our homes as sanctuaries that replenish our energy and ignite our creativity. Remember, as Jennifer reminds us, feeling good at home is the first step to feeling better everywhere else.

Why Did You Start My Black City?

A MESSAGE FROM BRANDON BORNES (FOUNDER OF MY BLACK CITY)

We often worry that we don’t have enough resources in our community to go around. When we see someone in our community doing what we do but better, we get a little nervous or intimidated. Instead of using competition to spur on our creativity, teamwork, work ethic and innovation, we become soo overwhelmed with our own fears and insecurities that we gossip, sabotage, or hurt one another. This has happened to many exceptional people in our community. We need to do better and lead by example. Our love for each other needs to be greater than our fear of failure.

If we had to simplify into one word what My Black City is about, it would be LOVE! Because Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

When people come in contact with our brand, that’s what I want them to experience. It‘s not an easy aspiration to live up to, but we believe it‘s worth fighting for and it‘s what we need as a community.
