Dr. Detra Duncan currently serves as Fountain City Councilperson At Large. She is the Founder and Director of the Fountain Youth Council. As a student at Cornell University, Detra Duncan completed the American Dietetic Internship where she became a Registered Dietitian. I have served as the President of the Cross Creek HOA, past Board President of Cross Creek Regional Park, and past Board Member of Fountain’s City Planning Commission. She is also involved with increasing voter registration and partnered with the League of Women Voters at local schools in the community to ensure our seniors were registered to vote, She has experience within the corporate business world as well as experience as small business ownership. My experience in Board Governance, Project Management, Educational Leadership, Indigenous Leadership, and Community Based Leadership is needed so that we have that broad spectrum of understanding to ensure when decisions are made at the council table, they are a reflection of the entire community. Dr. Duncan is the President of the local chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. – Xi Kappa Zeta Chapter where she is also a life member. She works to foster development through education by supporting and volunteering with Education Children of Color and the African American Youth Leadership Conference. She is engaged with the Martin Luther King All Peoples Breakfast hosted by Colorado College and has been involved with providing scholarships to deserving students who are pursuing higher education. Dr. Duncan is a member of the local branch of the NAACP where she has served as past Secretary. She has done fundraising and walking to support March of Dimes/March for Babies. She is also focused on mental health issues in the community. Dr. Duncan has hosted a day at the Capitol and lunch and learned where the focus was on Domestic Violence.
