Celebrating Darron Hilaire Jr: A Beacon of Inspiration in Our Community

In a world that often seeks change, Darron Hilaire Jr. stands as a shining example of how one person can make a monumental difference. For over a decade, Darron has dedicated his life to mentoring young men, championing the importance of community service and personal development. Darron’s journey began at just 16 years old and continues to flourish as he wears many hats: civic leader, spiritual guide, foster care advocate, and a young professional in the dynamic telecommunications industry of Turks and Caicos. His commitment to youth mentorship is evident through his five years of experience directing youth ministries at local assemblies and serving on his country’s parole board since 2020. With a heart dedicated to uplifting others, Darron believes in harnessing his skills—public speaking, coaching, and emotional intelligence—to connect with people and encourage their growth.

Darron recalls how his community involvement ignited within him, inspired by figures like his grandfather and influential teachers who imparted wisdom and a passion for service. “You can never take people further than where you are or have been,” he reflects, channeling this motivation into every young life he touches.

Throughout his journey, he has encountered several challenges—from being the youngest voice in the room to confronting societal stigmas associated with black men. Yet, Darron remains resilient, understanding that obstacles shape not only success but character. “Desire to learn, tolerance for failure, and godly zeal are crucial for anyone looking to excel,” he shares with a smile.

Combining his love for marketing with his genuine desire to serve, Darron has found fulfillment in providing relief to families post-hurricane and connecting communities often left in despair. His achievements are nothing short of inspiring: graduating with a BSc in Psychology, becoming a certified trauma recovery coach, and being recognized as a humanitarian for his selfless efforts.

Yet, what Darron treasures most is seeing the transformation in people’s lives. “I love solving problems that create meaning and inspire healing,” he emphasizes, underscoring his mission to leave a legacy characterized by goodness and justice.

To the younger generation, Darron offers a poignant piece of advice: “Relationship is the currency of life. Build wholesome, life-giving relationships in every meaningful area of your life.” This perspective embodies his belief that connection leads to meaningful change.

As Darron continues his work in the community, he aims to build a close-knit circle of friends and amplify the stories of courageous individuals making positive impacts. He dreams of a future where every young man feels empowered and equipped to leave a lasting legacy of their own.

Darron Hilaire Jr. is not just a mentor but a beacon of inspiration for all. As he paves the way for future generations, he reminds us that the path to true greatness lies in our willingness to uplift one another—together, we can shape a better tomorrow.

Why Did You Start My Black City?

A MESSAGE FROM BRANDON BORNES (FOUNDER OF MY BLACK CITY)

We often worry that we don’t have enough resources in our community to go around. When we see someone in our community doing what we do but better, we get a little nervous or intimidated. Instead of using competition to spur on our creativity, teamwork, work ethic and innovation, we become soo overwhelmed with our own fears and insecurities that we gossip, sabotage, or hurt one another. This has happened to many exceptional people in our community. We need to do better and lead by example. Our love for each other needs to be greater than our fear of failure.

If we had to simplify into one word what My Black City is about, it would be LOVE! Because Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

When people come in contact with our brand, that’s what I want them to experience. It‘s not an easy aspiration to live up to, but we believe it‘s worth fighting for and it‘s what we need as a community.
