I’m an advocate against gun violence that pens the effects of gun violence realistically through my own imprint, Royal 4 Publishing. My Hood Love volumes have chronicled true stories of 42 gun violence victims of Nashville, TN and surrounding areas poetically over the last 7 years in hopes of bringing about awareness, change and prayerfully an end to the epidemic known as gun violence.

What role do you play in your Industry?
- I take a hands on approach in the literary industry. I write and self-publish all of my works. I also hire my own graphic designers, editors, test readers, and promoters. When it comes to literary events and Pop-Up Shops, I am responsible for booking appearances to expand my brand as well and I also stepped into the world of publishing once my children decided that they took wanted to write and release books.

- 2015
What Certifications, Degrees, Titles and Experience do you have in your industry?
- I've self-published a total of 15 solo projects since joining the literary industry as well as been a part of 2 anthologies and co-wrote 2 books with my children.
Why & How did you get involved in your industry?
- I've always used writing as a way to escape during my pre-teen and teenage years with me dedicated poems to loved ones annually for birthdays and holidays. That eventually led to my brother, Juan Bell insisting that I write a book. Originally I said no, but once he passed away I realized that he saw something greater in me and for me this leading me to pursue the dream that he saw for me.
What do you love most about your role in your industry?
- The freedom of being able to write whatever I want whenever I want. Freedom of expression is truly liberating.
What is the best advice you have received about how to impact your industry?
- "Always improve from one book to the next and always remain true to yourself." "In this industry, you must develop thick skin."
What do you think are the top 3 things that help people excel in your industry?
- Consistency, Originality, Discipline
What encouragement would you give to those who are interested in being in your industry?
- Know the difference between being self-published and traditionally published so that you understand which one works best for you. Also, research your craft and never stop learning.
What do you think is the most important qualities for people to have in your industry?
- It's extremely important to remember your why. Always remember who and what you do it for because you'll need that to motivate you when things get tough.
What obstacles have you overcome, or are you overcoming to excel in your industry?
- I've seen the worst. In the beginning I didn't have an editor and I paid severely for it. The readers literally tore me apart. I then hired and editor without fully doing my research and I was ripped off on one of my dearest stories. I took nearly a year away from the public eye after that before returning to what I love and vowing to give it my all.
What accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?
- My children and showing them that entrepreneurship is possible. Also, showing them that generational curses can be broken is one of my greatest achievements.
Who is is one person that has influenced your direction in life? Explain How.
- God and my brother, Juan Bell. I can't leave out my Godmother, Benita (Ms. Choo) Fisk as well.
What advice would you give to the younger generation?
- Live while you have the chance to live and you're never too young to chase your dreams.
What do you want your legacy to be?
- The woman that never quit despite what life threw her way!
What else would you like people to know about you?
- That if I can do it as a single mother, you can too! Anything is possible with God on your side!
