About CABJnWHO WE ARE:nThe Colorado Association of Black Journalists (CABJ), with more than 100 members statewide, is an organization of journalists, students and media-related professionals that provides quality programs and services to and advocates on behalf of black journalists throughout. CABJ is the largest organization of journalists of color in the region and is an affiliate chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).nnCABJ is committed to:nnStrengthening ties among black journalists.nSensitizing all media to the importance of fairness in the workplace for black journalists.nExpanding job opportunities and recruiting activities for veteran, young and aspiring black journalists, while providing continued professional development and training.nIncreasing the number of black journalists in management positions and encouraging black journalists to become entrepreneurs.nFostering an exemplary group of professionals that honors excellence and outstanding achievements by African American journalists, and outstanding achievement in the media industry as a whole, particularly when it comes to providing balanced coverage of the black.nWorking with high schools and colleges to identify and encourage black students to become journalists, and to diversify faculties and related curriculum.nWorking with high schools and colleges to identify and encourage black students to become journalists, and to diversify faculties and related curriculum.nOUR MISSION:nThe Colorado Association of Black Journalists (CABJ) is a professional organization made up of reporters, broadcasters, editors, photographers, publishers, public relations/advertising professionals and technical people from the local news media. Formed in 1987, its purpose is to provide a support network for its members and direct access to the mainstream media for the African-American community. CABJ is dedicated to telling the complete, balanced and unbiased story of our community, and increasing Black representation in the news media.
