What role do you play in your Industry?
- I am a content creator which means my creativity stems through my writing and the way I see the world through the lenses of mental health. I am the owner and CEO of Briyanna Michelle Collections Co which is a mental health stationary business; God showed me the impact that I have and told me to take it further than just social media. In the world we live in there is a disconnect with the tools and strategies to handle mental health outside of therapy on a daily basis.
What year did you start in your industry?
- 2017
What Certifications, Degrees, Titles and Experience do you have in your industry?
- I have experience with content creating which started as a YouTube channel and blog website in 2017. My A.A. In English and Certification in Creative Writing allows me to have everything I need to take it to the next level.
Why & How did you get involved in your industry?
- As a black woman in her mid-twenties I was not taught how to manage my emotions in a healthy way growing up, so writing because my outlet and allowed that silenced voice to be heard. Creating content in whichever capacity fueled my lack of confidence which I was not aware of at the time. God revealed to me that I was lacking in that area and helped me work through that with journaling and sharing my story with others. Once I realized that it wasn’t just me who had that problem, I wanted to help others and it has been my story ever since.
What do you love most about your role in your industry?
- I love the community and transparency that is built on the road of healing.
What is the best advice you have received about how to impact your industry?
- To be myself and that people want to know the person behind the screen and great photos. By being myself and showing the good and bad it has unveiled the “perfect life” stigma that social media portrays.
What do you think are the top 3 things that help people excel in your industry?
- Confidence, community over popularity, and authenticity.
What encouragement would you give to those who are interested in being in your industry?
- I would say the thing you don’t want to share with others, that one thing that you would love to change about yourself is the key to being relatable to the community watching you.
What do you think is the most important qualities for people to have in your industry?
- Honesty, the ability to grow, and confidence.
What obstacles have you overcome, or are you overcoming to excel in your industry?
- I am overcoming feeling like I have to be completely healed to show up in my industry. There is always going to be something that comes along in life to trip you up, but it’s not about how hard you fall but your ability to get back up and keep striding.
What accomplishments are you most proud of in your life?
- I am proud to be a good person who loves the people around her. I am proud that I wrote my first book and started a business centered around my pain and trauma.
Who is is one person that has influenced your direction in life? Explain How.
- God, his ability to love me despite of my faults is the confidence that fuels me to keep going.
What advice would you give to the younger generation?
- Whatever your best is at the time is good enough, never allow your own thoughts or the opinions of others to tell you that you are not enough because that’s a lie straight from the devil.
What do you want your legacy to be?
- My legacy will be of one who didn’t allow her demons to win and healed from the things that tried to break her.
What else would you like people to know about you?
- I value finishing a book vs sleeping. I laugh louder than what is deemed appropriate but who cares. If there’s one thing about me I will be the funniest one in the room.
